Toyota Helensburgh | Workshop Redesign and Installation

Toyota Helensburgh | Workshop Redesign and Installation

The Project

Helensburgh Toyota was presented to us almost as a challenge by Toyota GB. Even though Helensburgh is a very high performing outlet for Toyota, it was evident that it was in need of modernisation.

The site sits in the centre of Helensburgh, and comprised of 1 x MOT bay and 4 x service bays. Here are some images of the site before the redesign:

Our Approach

On meeting the owners and management of the dealership, it became very apparent that they were ready to embrace change and to gain improvement in capacity. However, it would not be an easy or quick transformation; it entailed the workshop having to close for 4 months while the floors were replaced to allow two different floor levels to be merged into one. This was then topped with a fill-pour resin screed and a high build resin floor finish.

Our initial drawing proposal remained almost unchanged at completion, and incorporated a mix of existing equipment and new equipment to meet Toyota’s new brand requirements. It involved tearing out a tired staff kitchen, replacing with a new facility, external oil tanks, and air compressor storage to maximise workshop space and reduce internal noise, reconfigured MOT bay to include wheel alignment capability, which in turn with a building works package greatly improved access into the workshop that was previously compromised by bad positioning. New Straightset workstation cabinetry, upgraded vehicle lifts, pumped oil, compressed air, water and the inclusion of a Drive Thru Wheel alignment system in the doorway has truly turned this site from tired to one of the most sophisticated workshops in the UK.

The Outcome

Here is the workshop when it was completed.

The customer was thrilled with the project, stating "I would highly recommend Straightset, and trust in their vision. When it all began we could not imagine the finished article, and it is through them we have realised this workshop."
